Microneedling

MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure used to rejuvenate the skin. It involves the use of a device with fine needles to create tiny, controlled punctures (micro-injuries) in the skin's surface. These micro-injuries stimulate the body's natural wound healing processes, leading to increased collagen and elastin production, which are key components in maintaining healthy, youthful skin.

Here's an overview of how microneedling works and its benefits:

  • Stimulates Collagen Production: The micro-injuries created by the microneedling device trigger the body's natural healing response. As a result, the skin starts producing more collagen and elastin, which help in skin regeneration and repair.

  • Improves Skin Texture: Microneedling can help improve the texture of the skin by reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. It is often used to address issues like acne scars and stretch marks.

  • Enhances Product Absorption: The microchannels created by microneedling allow topical skincare products to penetrate the skin more effectively, making them more potent and improving their overall efficacy.

  • Reduces Hyperpigmentation: Microneedling can be beneficial in treating areas of hyperpigmentation, such as melasma or sunspots.

  • Tightens Loose Skin: In addition to addressing fine lines and wrinkles, microneedling can help tighten loose or sagging skin, which is why it's sometimes used for non-surgical facelifts.

This procedure may cause some redness and mild discomfort, but these effects are usually temporary. Downtime can vary from 2-5 days.

The results of microneedling are not immediate and may require multiple sessions to achieve the desired outcome. It's essential to follow post-procedure care instructions and use appropriate skincare products to maximise the benefits and reduce the risk of complications.
